How does it work?
- Choose your hat block(s)
- Check availability and complete booking form online.
- Sign agreement and pay deposit.
- Hire items delivered by courier. Please keep original packing for return items.
- Arrange return delivery prior to end of hire period.
- Upon receipt of returned hire items, and item checks for no damage, deposit will be refunded
Do you require a deposit?
The hire fee per hat block covers a 2-week period. In addition to the hire fee, we require a security deposit. The deposits vary between block styles depending on the value of the hat block. We ask you to pay a security deposit when booking. We return your deposit on safe return of the block to us in its original condition (we allow for dressmaker gauge pin holes).
What happens if the block is lost or damaged?
We accept that pin holes will be created when using the hat blocks, but please use dressmaker gauge pins only (NOT drawing pins) to limit the damage. We also require that you cover the hat block(s) in clingfilm before blocking your hats to prevent colour run and protect against steam / water-soaked materials / stiffener. This will prolong the life of the hat block(s). When the block is not in use do not store on or near a radiator or close to a heat source. On no occasion must you put your hat block in an oven / drying cabinet.
We understand that accidental damage can happen. However, we will need to charge for damaged, broken or missing items. We hold your credit card as security against damage, breakage or loss so please ensure that the advice above regarding pins and protecting the block with clingfilm is adhered to. You are responsible for all items while they are in your possession. Any items left at unattended premises remain your responsibility.
If there are any fragile parts on the block we will advise you on this. If the block has been damaged, or some chips have come off, please return any broken parts with the block.
How long is the hire period?
The hire period is booked in 2-week periods to allow for delivery to and from your address. Any returns received after the hire period ends (without prior written agreement) will incur additional charges at a daily rate.
Do you hire outside the UK?
At this time we are only hiring out blocks to UK addresses. All blocks are shipped by courier, using a tracked service.
Do I need to be at home to receive the hired blocks?
Preferably, yes. If you arrange with the courier to leave them in a safe place, it will be at your risk and it needs to be a sheltered spot. Please ensure the safe space is waterproof.
How do I return my hired blocks?
Please reuse the original packaging the items were received in. At the end of hire term you are required to arrange the safe return of your hat block(s) via a tracked service using the return labels issued to you.
